Biography
Christi and Cara were first introduced
to art at a very young age by their Grandfather who had always dreamed of becoming
an artist himself. Instead, he became a physician but never lost his love and
passion for art. He collected books of artwork by classic artists and was particularly
fond of the fantasy themed, colorful work of Walt Disney, and the surreal work
of Salvador Dali, and MC Escher. The twins would spend hours looking at these
wonderful books, and their grandparents, providing them with an endless variety
of art supplies, encouraged creativity. Being self-taught, each would spend
hours studying books on various painting and drawing styles and techniques eventually
finding that watercolor was the most fascinating, versatile and satisfying medium
for both. They were enchanted with the unexpected, unique colors and textures
that can be created with watercolor. Over the years the twins have discovered
many new artists that have become most inspiring to them including, but not
limited to, Daniel Merriam, Arther Rackham, Brian Froud, Jody Bergsma, Mary
Englebrite, David Delamar, Michael Parks, and Amy Brown. The girls grew up in
Claremont, CA but felt drawn to the beautiful, majestic, and awe-inspiring central
coast of California. They settled in the peaceful beach town of Los Osos, CA
near San Luis Obispo. In college, Cara and Christi surprisingly did not study
art, but graduated with degrees in registered nursing, a profession that allows
them to work part-time while pursuing their art careers.
